The happiness of the unemployed
Well, to be honest, it’s not only the happiness but also the laziness of the unemployed :D. Okay, a short explanation: After four weeks of hard work I’m finally ‘free’ again, Friday, 04/08/06, was my last working day. I mean, on the one hand it is really not good at all because I earned an awful lot of money there and four additional weeks would have been very good for my wallet but on the other hand it’s a great feeling especially after four weeks of getting up at 4 am since they gave me the early shift every f*** week. However, what to do now with all the rather unexpected free time?! Hm, that’s a good question… to be honest I don’t have a clue yet but I guess I’ll easily find something (most of the things will probably be complete nonsense and totally unimportant but well…
).
Since nothing much has happened since the last entry I wonder what to write about without being boring like hell. I guess I should only tell you all the news (what can be done very quickly) and afterwards shut up and wait for more interesting stuff to happen.
Soooo, the news, hmmmm, okay, so, the first thing I did after I got rid of this work was: I went out. I made an arrangement with my brother and we met in Flensburg where he lives (a gorgeous town by the way - worth a visit). Well, but somehow, I’m afraid, I even have to learn the way of going out again. At about 11 pm and only two pints of beer I was so tired that I could have fallen asleep right there in this not very comfy chair
! However, I’m sure that after a while (and some practice) I’ll be ‘fit’ for that again
! That shouldn’t be too hard, hihi!
On Sunday, 06/08/06 was the traditional fish market in Eckernförde. I’m not sure if this was once a real *fish* market but even if it was one now it is simply a better flea market (if this word exists in English…). Anyway, during the summer it is always packed with people because of all the tourists who, fortunately or unfortunately (I don’t want to decide that) invade Eckernförde year in and year out. In the end after somehow having survived this I decided to stay away from the market for the coming years
! However, I’m not any longer a timeless person - I bought myself a new watch there…!
And since it was such a gorgeous weather I took my bike and cycled to the beach and had a swim (and a pint of beer afterwards). When I have a look outside it might well have been the last swim I had for a longer while. Sadly, the weather turned quite cold (~ 20-25 degrees) and most of the time it’s rather cloudy…! Anyway, I don’t want to complain, we had such a great weather for weeks (or months)!
This week didn’t start too well though, on Monday morning I had an appointment at the dermatologist because I had some strange ‘nupsies’ (sorry, I don’t even know the German word…) on the neck. The doctor gave me an ointment with the instruction to put that on all the ‘nupsies’ two hours before. It was something to anaesthetise the regions on the neck. Okay, so, brave as I am, I went there on Monday morning but apparently this ointment was not enough which means that he gave me SIX injections into the neck (jaul
). However, no more problems afterwards, only a painless laser treatment… Well, all this meant, unfortunately, that I couldn’t go to the Volleyball training neither on Monday nor on Tuesday
! Today I thought: Enough is enough and went for a run and it worked well enough! Wow, you can’t imagine how great this was, run, run, run and afterwards a very hot shower (I wasn’t allowed any contact with water either), some body lotion - a new human being
!
Funnily enough, now that I have more time for socialising myself I chat less than before…
! But, well, I guess I can’t have everything. That’s life…! I do hope now that I can at least manage to persuade my friends here at home to meet me again! And to make sure that they’ll do that I already arranged some coffee dates
! I guess, after eight month (or more) there will be loads of stuff to tell and I’m really looking forward to seeing all of you again!
Well, that’s about everything I experienced since I’m unemployed which is at least a bit worth mentioning. Now, I’m looking forward to all that is to come. As I already mentioned before, I’ll finally meet more of my friends and hopefully can enjoy some beer gardens and so on and so on. And soon enough, I’m on my way to other places again: From the 26/08/06 to the 03/09/06 I will finally be back in Freiburg to search for a new flat. Exactly in this week Christine will have her written exam in history. It’s great that we managed to be together in this time but I want to tell her now that she’ll do a great job and that I’ll give her many hugs, before as well as after the exam! And when it’s over we’ll have some pints together, huh?!
However, I promise to tell you all the news as soon as possible!
Until then I wish all of you all the best, send you many hugs and hope we’ll keep in touch!
Take care everybody!
Your Steffi
