About this site

This site is designed to act as a study guide for historians at Trinity College, Dublin. It is written by students, for students, and thus does not claim to be in any way a definitive guide. There will be many gaps in the notes available, and user contributions are always appreciated (see below). The essay and tutorial pieces are provided to aid study, and are reproduced here with permission by their authors on the strict understanding that they are merely to be used as guidelines. This site operates an anti-plagiarism policy and any fraudulent use of the works published herein is highly discouraged.

What you'll find here

This site was designed to eventually include :-

  • a complete set of lecture notes for all of the courses run by Trinity's Medieval and Modern history departments
  • a selection of essays, as guidelines for future essay assignments, and for those preparing for examination questions
  • tutorial assignments, in mini-essay or short answer questions
  • all of the past examination papers from 1997-present

Want to contribute?

This site relies on user contributions to offer the best to fellow students. Feel your lecture notes are good enough to be shared? Or have tutorial assignments or essays that you would like to add to the collection? This website uses the same software used to power wikipedia, so if you're familiar with that, try filling in the missing gaps yourself. If you don't feel confident editing these pages, use the sandbox to experiment, or you can e-mail us your work in any common word processed format, stating which lecture/essay you are sending in the subject line.

All essay contributions will be credited, although anonymity can be maintained if expressly requested. No individual lecture notes will be credited, however feel free to list yourself on our contributors page. If you find inaccuracies or omissions in the current crop of lecture notes, feel free to edit the current pages, but note any attempts at graffiti are logged and will be rectified, perhaps resulting in pages being locked and/or IPs banned.
